Speech Therapy

Speech therapy addresses a child’s ability to communicate effectively. The ability to communicate can be affected by a child’s ability to talk, their ability to understand what is being said to them, and through subtle gestures and facial expressions. Speech therapists also address oral motor, feeding and swallowing disorders that affect a child’s ability to eat safely. Communication plays a vital role in peer interaction and effectively making wants and needs known.

Speech and Language Developmental Milestones

Each time your child has a birthday or is another month older, the speech and language milestone expectations increase.  The American Speech-Language-Hearing  Association (ASHA) is the national licensing organization for speech-language pathologists.  ASHA provides excellent developmental charts for the language milestones at each month and grade level up to fifth grade.  For a complete list of Speech and Language Milestones click below:
