Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy uses purposeful activities to maximize the independence and well-being of individuals who are limited by a physical injury or illness, cognitive impairment, psychosocial dysfunction, mental illness, developmental or learning disability, or adverse environmental conditions.

For a child, purposeful activities include swinging, climbing, jumping, buttoning, drawing, eating, and other daily life tasks. In essence, pediatric occupational therapists help children develop the skills needed to play, interact with others, and engage with their environment at an age-appropriate level.
